Brazilian Lemonade (Shhh, it’s the best kept secret)!

Whomever named this refreshing drink “Brazilian Lemonade” sure had a good sense of humor considering there is not a single lemon to be found here. I am not kidding, prepare this beverage once and you will be hard-pressed not to want to make for everyone you know. This summer is already a hot one, so stock up on those limes!

Trust me, you will want to make this drink for summer and every summer thereafter.

BRAZILIAN LEMONADE
Ingredients:
6 cups cold water
1 cup sugar (or 1/4 to half a cup of agave nectar for less sugar and a lower glycemic index)
4 limes
6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
Directions:
Mix water and sugar together until sugar is dissolved. Put in the fridge to chill until ready to use. Wash the limes. Seriously, wash them with soap and water and give them a good old-fashioned scrub because you are using the entire lime. After the washing, cut the ends off the limes (DO NOT MISS THIS STEP!) and then cut them into eighths. Place half of the limes and half of the sugar water in your blender and pulse 5 times. Or if you have a Vitamix simply turn on and count to 5. Strain through a fine mesh strainer (or cheese cloth) into the pitcher that you are going to serve it in. Discard the pulp. Repeat with the second half of your limes and sugar water. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk. Serve over lots of ice.
** NOTES
When picking your limes, the ones with the thinnest skin are the best choice. They are more juicy. If you do end up with a more bitter drink, add more sugar  or agave and possibly a touch more sweetened condensed milk to taste.
