The same is true for losing weight too!

How much exercise is enough or too much to lose weight in a healthy and lasting fashion? Take for example the participants, well players on the Biggest Loser. They spend close to 6 hours a day working out – ideally to change their life, in reality to lose the most weight.

What about in the real world for real people?  How often should we workout? Trainer Michelle Bridges, says the amount of time you work out every week can unlock a key to weight-loss success that is about more than just caloric burn.

Her most effective number of workouts a week to help with weight-loss for clients is six workouts the length being 60 minutes each. Reading this may make it seem the time put into exercise is what makes the weight loss happen. Look deeper. By committing to 6 days a week of workout out, you will be building the foundation for a healthy future. You’re creating healthy habits, and the longer you continue on, the workouts, the healthy eating they all become just another part of your day. Then you wake up and can’t imagine not getting a workout in. Pretty cool right?

Does the idea of six 60 minute workouts per week sound over the top? Why not try 3 tougher workouts, 2 moderate ones, and 1 light workout. Examples being:HIIT-for-Beginners

Hard = HIIT
Moderate = Cycle class
Light = a Barre class + walking

The most important part is to make the habit of working out. As you get stronger you can always intensify your workouts. Why not sign up for a 5 or 10k race? Once you get started you won’t want to stop!
