A New Way to Hummus

A traditional hummus is made from chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and let’s be honest, it is delicious! However, there’s more than way to make a delicious dip for crudités (veggies!) and I’ve found a great recipe, courtesy of Quentin Bacon of Health.com, to change up this classic recipe.

White Bean & Herb Hummus

This dish is a stunner when it comes to flavor and has some great nutritional aspects as well, not to mention it only takes about 4 minutes to make. There is a solid hit of protein and plenty of healthy fats from the beans which are perfect for heart-health. Also, there are clean carbs and very little sugar so you can guilt-free snack to your heart’s delight (literally).

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup canned cannellini beans (aka white kidney beans)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

Directions

Put all ingredients together in a bowl then mash with a fork until chunky or smooth, depending on how you prefer it. That’s it! You can use fresh vegetables like carrots broccoli to dip into this new take on an old classic.
