You’ve got this. Make a commitment to you and your invigorated healthy life. Now, we are here to help you solidify this commitment. Read, digest and live by these rules and you will be golden. Also, good for you!
Breathe
You hear people talking about it all the time, you know why? It works. Make an effort to learn to meditate. Meditation reduces anxiety and helps to keep your emotions in check, it has also been shown to decrease insomnia by almost 50 percent. Not completely sold, at the very least, take the time to stop, and breathe long breaths, three of them, when you are stressed or filled with anxiety. Feel better? See, it works. Now go research meditation.
Water
Drink it then drink some more. Carry a bottle with you at all times. Keep a big glass by your bed. You may not even realize you are dehydrated – your foggy brain may be due to dehydration. Keep your energy up all day by filling your body with water, you will feel energized, and your body will work at its full potential. Have a sip now!
Laugh
Yuck it up! Outlive people who have no sense of humor – its science. Laughing keeps you in a positive place and relieves stress. Feeling down? Queue up your favorite funny show, grab a funny book, I suggest David Sedaris, and laugh your way to happy. Set funny goals and be sure to hit them every week!
Outside
Get your booty outside and get some fresh air. Doesn’t matter if it’s to get a workout in, or to simply make a healthy break in your daily office routine. Take advantage of the upcoming warm weather, check out nature – and breathe. (See the first rule in the list) Notice how much better you feel once you go back inside. Make this part of your daily routine!
Consistency
You will keep your exercise consistently. No matter your goals, keep up your fitness routine. Notice your mood elevating, self-esteem boosted and you may even see an improvement on the scale. Make it happen. If you need help, grab a buddy and have them join you. Just do it.
Listen
Your body speaks to you, hear what it is saying. If you are starting to feel under the weather, listen to your body. Slow down and take care of yourself. If you are workout-a-holic, listen to your body when you are feeling sluggish and have a rest day. You’ll be glad you did. Be aware of what your body is saying: Do you need that extra fork of pasta? Do you need that next cocktail? Listen, hear and act.
Fuel
Food is fuel. Period. Feed your body with premium fuel. Real food. Lean proteins, vegetables, fruit and grains. Eat clean, perform better and feel better overall.
80/20
Strive for a diet that has you eating really clean for eighty percent of the time and allow yourself to live a little twenty percent of the time. Once you have adopted this lifestyle, you will notice that you end up with a 90/10 ratio. Eating clean will have you feeling amazing, a feeling you may not want to let go.
Food
Too much of anything is not good. Our bodies need to have a balanced diet to perform to it’s highest potential. Don’t eliminate entire food groups. A diet of no carbs may be doable for a period of time, long term, is not sustainable. Eat a balanced healthy diet.
ZZZ
Hit the sheets and aim for seven hours a night. Watch your energy, memory and overall well-boost when you make an effort to get enough sleep. Shut off the TV, turn off your phone, and get into bed with a good book. Allow yourself enough time to wind down and fall asleep naturally. Night, night.
