According to gym chains around the country, today is the day where the majority of people drop off or out of their fitness resolutions that they had set for the new year. Whoa! None of us want to be a statistic and especially this one! No how No way! Yes, we all know the saying “It takes 21 days to make or break a habit”. Guess what…that is not true. The truth is it takes about 66 days to form a new habit and with that in mind now is the time to dig deep! You can be a success and hit your goals this time around. This is the year! We have what you need to help keep you from diving off of the fitness cliff and trashing your 2016 Goals!
4 Sure Fire Tips to Stay Strong and Hit Your Fitness Goals
Write it Down!
We promise if you write down your intentions, you will achieve them. Putting your intentions to paper or type will subconsciously trigger a little something in your head, heart and soul that will have you not willing to disappoint yourself by quitting. So grab a pen and paper and start scribbling! Your future self says thank you!
Buddy Up!
Get a partner in crime. Once you are accountable to someone other than yourself, you will find yourself showing up to all the workouts you have calendared. Trust us, it works!
One Cookie Doesn’t Equal Failure!
One night over indulging, one brunch of too many mimosas or a missed workout means you were off track for one meal or workout. Ok, it happens. Don’t throw in the towel, because that is old behaviour. Remember we are working on creating new habits (see #1) and that takes 66 days. Start fresh tomorrow or better yet, start fresh at your next meal or workout. Stop letting a slip and excuses get in the way of your success.
Technology is Your Friend!
Invest in a vivofit or fitbit these two tell you when you need to start moving if you have been sitting too long, awesome! Start using an app that you can track your food and fitness. Another way to be accountable. Enter every bit of food and drink and all your exercise. See your patterns. Know your limits – well the app will tell you when you are getting close to your daily calorie allowance. It’s great to see all the hard work you have put in too! Another hot tech tip: If you are short on time and can’t make it to class, turn on an online workout video and get it done! No excuses, remember.
Bottom line is this. You are awesome! You are going to crush this fitness cliff. You are strong and you are going to form this new lifelong habit.
