Runner Up: Red Wine (an extremely close Runner Up)

I’ll bet a lot of you thought red wine would top the list… and to be honest, so did I! But where red wine falls just short of straight liquor is in the calorie count and carbs. A 5oz serving of red wine is closer to 150 kcals and about 5-7g of carbs. However, I personally think that is a far trade off for the reported and tested benefits of drinking red wine. Red wine is best known to doctors and health enthusiasts as the resveratrol drink. Resveratrol is the antioxidant contained in red wine that has been linked with lowering bad cholesterol, fighting depression, cancer and even diabetes. Somehow, a few extra carbs and calories don’t bother me when I know I’m fighting diseases.
